Students may undertake a major sequence in Social Theory as part of their undergraduate degree; however Social Theory subjects are not offered at first-year level. Students interested in completing a major sequence of study are advised to consult staff from the Ashworth Program or a faculty course adviser for appropriate subject choices in the first year of study.

Community Access Program

The Community Access Program (CAP) allows people who are not enrolled in a degree program at the University of Melbourne to enrol in subjects for interest or for the purposes of qualifying for entry to degree programs in Arts. Applicants should note that there is no guarantee of selection into a course via CAP, but it is possible to use CAP subjects to demonstrate academic merit.

CAP students must satisfy any subject prerequisites. The Social Theory program does not offer subjects at first year level. Therefore, the general prerequisite for Social Theory subjects is ususally the completion of 50 points of first year in any area of study within the Faculty of Arts.
