Social Theory Postgraduate Association

The STPA aims to foster intellectual community and a spirit of collegiality among postgraduates in Social Theory and related disciplines. Apart from arranging fortnightly seminars and the annual Ashworth Program Critical Theories conference, held in conjunction with Macquarie University, the STPA organises social events for postgraduates to meet, share a drink and speak freely on common issues. The group also endeavours to support general communication among students and between students and staff in the department.

The STPA is affiliated with and receives funding from UMPA. The executive is elected at the beginning of each year at the Annual General Meeting, which all members are encouraged to attend. All postgraduate students in Social Theory are automatically members of the STPA and membership is also open to any postgraduates from other disciplines who may want to get involved.

If you would like to receive information by email about the STPA’s activities, or are interested in joining or otherwise being involved with the STPA, please email one of the members of the executive.

The executive for 2007 is:

President: Lucy Ward

Vice-President: Yoni Molad

Secretary: James Field

Treasurer: Dan O'Meara
